To celebrate its 5th anniversary, the M.A.D.Gallery introduces the Nixie Machine II by Berlin-based artist Frank Buchwald: a jaw-dropping, sculptural clock featuring beautifully glowing Nixie tubes produced by Dalibor Farny, a passionate engineer.
The M.A.D.Gallery is thrilled to offer this evolution of the original Nixie Machine in a collection of 12 pieces available exclusively from the M.A.D.Galleries in Geneva, Dubai, and Taipei. With its 1.2m-long eye-catching structure in Buchwald’s signature “heavy engineering” style and, handcrafted out of burnished steel and brushed brass, Nixie Machine II is a clock like no other.
Each of its glowing six digits is displayed via modern Nixie tubes – also known as cold cathode displays – presented as three pairs for hours, minutes and seconds. The stunning retro-futuristic design, bearing four legs and body-like symmetry, could have stepped straight out of a sci-fi movie. This collaborative invention will inspire both awe and conversation with anyone viewing this animated time-telling machine.
