Marks & Spencer embark on a new season with
sartorial confidence as the simplicity of style and the purity of design are
celebrated and explored. Through a considered trend direction and a refined
interpretation of the season, the AW2016 aesthetic is renewed. Elegant layering of fabrics and a complementary colour palette depict a
maturity across the season; verging from the classic to the decorative. Marks & Spencer continue to celebrate design
and innovation through a modern interpretation of style. Celebrating the
quality of finish, the luxury of fabrics and the precision of detail. As
covetable separates punctuate a season of overriding and defining quality and
style.
<METROPOLIS>
A modern construction of layers and tonality, as a
sleek and minimal aesthetic with subtle sports detailing, redefines
contemporary femininity.
<ROMANTIC EXPLORER>
Moody blooms and
khaki hues meet contrasting leathers and fluid dresses; as sumptuous tactility
and relaxed proportions are explored.
<ECCENTRICS>
Jacquards,
jewels and emboldened print underpin a considered yet eccentric sensibility; as
the contemporary eclectic lives on.
<INTO THE
NIGHT>
Swathed in
velvet and dramatic lace and punctuated by a liquid shine; the evening mood is
purposefully reimagined.
The men collection focus
on simplicity, quality and attention to detail. Classic denim and refined knitwear are worn with pared back essentials. Tailoring is constructed in a relaxed
silhouette, styled with patterned shirts for a fresh new look. Texture is a key fabric trend for AW2016, with contrasting detail found across the collections. Winter tones such as chestnut and burgundy bring a
luxurious warmth and subtle retro feel to the new styles.
Denim
stays a staple piece of the menswear wardrobe, paired with laidback essentials
to create a relaxed look, or dressed up with a shirt and a bomber jacket to
create a more formal look. New for this season we introduce a new travel jean with
a four way stretch for enhanced comfort. As well as this, the collection
includes selvedge jean which is made from specially woven luxury denim in
Japanese mills, offering a hard wearing authentic look.
Classic knitwear is updated to include more styles and
colours in luxury fabrics such as merino silk and cashmere. Twist yarns
and stitch details add interest to fresh new styles that can be worn as easy
layering pieces. Roll neck and turtle neck jumpers can be styled as statement
pieces or alternatively work perfectly under a suit. Tailoring takes a contemporary
approach with sharp styling, brushed textures and twisted yarns adding a new
take on suit looks. The focus on colour includes rich
blends of charcoal, denim and dark navy blue. New style detail include peaked
lapels, longer top collars, lapel pins and matching waistcoats. Intricate
prints and patterns, such as contrast geometric and
subtle paisley prints, on shirts work with textured tailoring.
Simple, pared back pieces with textured detailing are
key for this season and can be seen across the AW2016 M&S menswear
collections. From cable knits on jumpers
to wool Donegal checks on jackets and suits, simple styles are elevated with
fabrics and finishes. This season, winter tones are prominent
throughout the collection. Standout colours such as dark rust and lime green
add interest to winter looks whilst neutral tones of winter white and rich
camel are used to brighten
the Autumn Winter wardrobe. Grey is also key for the season with layering of
different tones used to modernise head to toe styling across formal and
casualwear.
New
season styles are finished with luxury accessories and footwear. Newly introduced
this season are suede and leather textured tan brogues, suede Chukka boots and
Chelsea boots in seasonal tones such as navy and burgundy with a contrast sole
and tassel loafers. Key
accessory styles include textured winter scarves made from 100% British
wool, luxury rucksacks in leather and 100% cashmere gloves. The
new season’s Autograph collection is built around modern essentials, designed
with a minimal aesthetic in mind. Soft silhouettes are seen across tailoring,
and textured fabrics add a new dimension to the collection. Pared back
essentials create a relaxed approach to dressing, with highlights including
structured leisurewear and technical outerwear.
