HOGAN SS2016 The Crystal Ball Of Pop Men's Collection is a progressive vision of luxury sportswear. Simon Holloway considers the funky collision of disco, punk, rock and
rap in 1980’s new york as chronicled by the downtown bible of style: Warhol’s “interview”.
From “parallel lines” to “white lines” a languid vision fusing Tommy Nutter inspired tuxedos and voile shirts to military surplus, to pyjamas into a louche, tailored, athletic vibe. Julie Verhoeven’s prints riff basquiat, haring and Warhol scrawled over shirts, sweatshirts, suits and pyjamas.
Running and basketball sneakers, sporty double monk straps, kilties and tasseled slippers are given the clubby treatment in patents, animal prints and scuffed holographics.
Bags are cut in rubberized or washed leathers: sporty and scaled-up in totes, backpacks and duffles, refined and chic in portfolios and wallets, animated with Verhoeven’s artfully inspired punky disco accessories. A concise palette: black, white, fatigue green, bright purple, yellow, pink and cobalt. Luxurious materials: wool mohair, cotton pique, seersucker, cotton voile, silk twill, bonded calf, printed silks and mercerized cotton.
