Since its inception by Pauline Moynat in 1849, Moynat
has always been recognized as an emblem of discreet and uncompromising luxury
with the ultimate Parisian charm. Its maisons de vente (flagship stores) at 348
rue Saint-Honoré in Paris and 112 Mount Street in London have become the haunt
of connoisseurs looking for splendid and unusual pieces. Now, Moynat travels to
Asia for the first time in its history to bring the House’s strong and personal
style signature to the heart of Central Hong Kong at Landmark. Pauline Moynat, a visionary and the only woman
trunk-maker in history, founded Moynat in 1849, and soon made the house the
most Parisian among the French leathergoods and trunk makers of her time.
The new store includes women's and men's leather goods and accessories, trunks and textiles. The gallery also takes orders for the signature personalization service, from hand painting of initials, to made-to-measure trunks and handbags. Designed as a precious and secret gem from Paris, the “gallery” has the Havana color of antique Moynat trunks, thus creating an jewel box-like background for the sensual Moynat collection. Heritage and modernity dialogue in a surprising composition of suspended displays and highlights. “The Parisian twist is always a delicate chemistry of impertinence, refinement and creativity rooted in the history of the city of light. This gallery is an expression of this chemistry, which will allow visitors to discover a different aspect of Paris through the eyes of Moynat.” says the architect Gwenael Nicolas, director of Curiosity.
