PORTS 1961 appointed Natasa Cagalj as the new Creative Director for Womenswear. For the first time, Fiona Cibani is passing the baton to a designer who will be fully in charge of the women’s collection, as Cibani takes the post as President of Ports 1961 NY Inc. Fiona Cibani says: “Natasa is an incredibly talented individual and creative force. Her vision is perfectly in line with the Ports 1961 woman. I’m very excited to have Natasa on board and I strongly feel it’s time for a new chapter in the evolution of Ports 1961. This is a long term decision.” Natasa Cagalj graduated with distinction from the Central Saint Martins MA program in 1997, under the late Professor Louise Wilson. Straight after graduation she started working with Nino Cerruti and Peter Speliopoulos when he was appointed creative director of Cerruti Arte in Paris. When Alber Elbaz was appointed as a creative director at Lanvin in 2001, he invited her to join him as his right hand designer. In 2005 she was appointed as Head of Design at Stella McCartney in London where she remained until 2012. From 2012 to 2014 Natasa was a freelance consultant. Natasa and the Ports 1961 womenswear design team will be based in a newly opened 500sqm lofty London design studio, in Clerkenwell.
