MULBERRY AW2014/15 collection is subtlety and flair, fluidity and sharpness, masculine and feminine. It finds elegance and freshness in classic men’s tailoring, reinterpreting iconic detailing on beautifully feminine pieces with inherent Mulberry charm. Practicality mingles with sensuality in a collection that blends tradition with the unexpected.
Commonly associated with traditional menswear, iconic British fabric patterns Paisley, Arran and Argyle punctuate the Ready To Wear collection. Paisley is playfully hand-embroidered with added Perspex and jewelled detailing for a modern update of a classic pattern. Iconic knits Arran and Argyle are sleek and sumptuous, reworked in beautiful fabrics in a single colour. The wider colour palette borrows shades from the English countryside; Evergreen, Bottle Green and Camel, Midnight Blue from a clear night sky, three complementary Greys and simple Black. Rum adds richness, and subtle neutrals Wheat, White and Cream lighten the deeper tones.
Outerwear celebrates the iconic: the masculine tuxedo becomes a beautifully tailored jacket with contrast satin lapels, the ever-recognisable puffa jacket is reworked in British flannel and a traditional gentleman’s overcoat is now a timeless and beautifully soft women’s piece.
The signature cummerbund and pleat-front shirt from a tuxedo suit inspired the detailing on new silk blouses and women’s evening trousers, and the iconic business stripe was taken from men’s shirts, used on ultra-feminine voluminous silk blouses. Finally the delicate pussy-bow becomes a luxurious and over-the-top signature detailing on dresses, shirts and coats, a bow that can be wrapped, wrapped and wrapped again.
