This may not be as exciting as Steven Spielberg's <Jaws> but director John Stockwell certainly has more than experience to do more open dive and bringing this shark thriller to another level of entertainment since his previous well received movies <Into the Blues> and <Blue Crush>. Despite <Dark Tide> may be considered one of the grade B movies with a better cast and higher production budget set in Cape Town, South Africa with gorgeous scenery; the story was a little traumatized by the flat writing morass. Besides the lovely cinematography, the screenplay feels more like a rough documented discovery Channel movie than any shark-related suspense thriller. If your school nights has nothing in planned, spending of your 110 minutes may not have you jumped out of your seat but at least something to talk about the next day, be it a good or bad review.
