For thousands of years, ink, water, paper and the brushstroke have not changed and it is through these elements that a world of ink and water was created. Hong Kong born Nina Pryde's recent works showcasing the ink painting combined with Chinese calligraphy, collage and mixed media to represent landscapes, historical sites and scenic beauty. Pryde began her artistic career 30 years ago and has been exploring a wide spectrum of art forms ranging from painting, calligraphy, sculpture and ceramics but most fascinated by Chinese ink painting. The representation of both traditional and modern subjects highlights her admiration of the tradition of Chinese pictorial Culture and her desire to pursue a novel way to modernize the use of ink in contemporary art.
