Since its foundation in 1863, the House of CAMUS has accumulated an unrivalled know-how, handed on from father to son for five generations. CAMUS MASTERPIECE COLLECTION by Cyril CAMUS is the most recent scion of the House of CAMUS. Celebrating the generosity of nature, the traditions of finest French craftsmanship and ancestral skills, this new collection is the culmination of the mission Cyril CAMUS set himself: discovering the very rarest eaux-de-vie and offering them to consumers in an exquisite crystal decanter by Baccarat. Cuvée 2.105, the latest opus of the Masterpiece Collection, once again demonstrates the faithful transmission of these remarkable skills from the fourth to the fifth generation of the family. It combines the contemporary inspiration of Cyril CAMUS, the current head of the family, with the experience and passion of his father who has passed on the values and unique skills of the House, family-owned and independent to this day. In Cognac, deep in the Borderies, Jean-Paul CAMUS still tends with undiminished passion the ancestral vineyards of the Château du Plessis, the cradle of the family where 150 years of tradition remain very much alive.
In February 2011, then aged 65 and 40, Jean-Paul and Cyril CAMUS, father and son, selected for the creation of Cuvée 2.105 two remarkable cognacs whose ages and characters faithfully represent their own personalities. The tradition and experience for Jean-Paul CAMUS, in a Grande Champagne cognac of 65 years guaranteed minimum age; it is classic subtlety with a contemporary flair for Cyril CAMUS, in a Grande Champagne cognac of 40 years guaranteed minimum age. At 65 years old, Jean-Paul CAMUS brought to the blend the serenity and fulfilment of one who has built an edifice and handed it on. At 40 years old, Cyril CAMUS brought to the blend the gentle strength of one who has received the essential know-how that ensures continuity in the construction of the House. The blend of cognacs of 65 and 40 years minimum guaranteed age that forms Cuvée 2.105 is not only uniquely rare, but also a once in a lifetime homage to the past and future of a family totally dedicated to cognac making for five generations.
It is an exceptional and strictly limited edition of just 1228 numbered pieces with a Grande Champagne of 65 years minimum guaranteed age, the apotheosis of a fully and perfectly aged cognac. Its gentle, creamy nose is dominated by fruity and brioche notes of great length and richness. Distilled 65 years ago in a very small pot-still of 450 litres to develop the characteristic flavours at the heart of the wine from the Colombard grape, today it displays a sublime marriage of wood with hints of currants, almonds, hazelnuts and raisins.
CAMUS is the last great independent, family-owned Cognac house managed by five generations since its foundation in 1863. It is sold in over 150 countries, on board 50 international airlines and in all major Duty Free Shops. Today, the company is managed by Cyril CAMUS, the President, who is following the philosophy of the previous generations based on quality, tradition and innovation.
