Love Over Rules

This season, Designer Chitose Abe wanted to evoke the idea of peace, love and unity through the words “Love Over Rules”, originating from the artwork by American conceptual artist Hank Willis Thomas that is seen throughout the collection.

Inspired by those who have broken the rules and pushed boundaries to defy society’s expectations regardless of their race, culture or sexuality, this collection shows that “Love Over Rules”.

Abe revisited some of her favorite prints such as Reyn Spooner, Pendleton as well as suiting fabrics in solids, glen checks and pinstripes and nylon MA-1 materials that have been important to her throughout the years and reworked them in graphic patchwork patterns inspired by Hank Willis Thomas’ work.

Delving further into the brand DNA of taking classic and familiar shapes and transforming them to create something new with the mixing of unexpected combinations.

To reflect Abe’s personal expression and her own styling, some of the looks include items that are not part of the sacai collection such as Nike leggings and A.P.C. denim pants showing that sacai can be worn in different ways for people to bring their own expression of individuality.

Men’s silhouettes include tailored coats combined with MA-1 style bomber jacket details and sporty drawstring trims. Double layered suit jackets with sporty blouson jackets underneath or fine gage knit cardigan sweaters on top. Inside out coats and jackets with the striped lining showing on the outside.

Patchwork knits melded with bomber jacket panels or military style heavy duty double zippers. Patchwork jeans, tailored trousers and shorts.

The Nike x sacai collaboration continues with new colorways of the Vaporwaffle and the new model Blazer Low being introduced this season.
