Dior Cruise
2018 collection was inspired by the motherpeace tarot created by Karen Vogel and Vicki Noble in the 1970s. The collection will be presented in all Dior flagships and in an exclusive selection of
pop-up stores specially decorated with paintings and hangings featuring arcana
from the deck such as the wheel of fortune, the grand priestess and the sun.
In Paris, at 44 Avenue Montaigne and on Rue Saint-Honoré, in Milan at Antonia, in Berlin at the corner, then in Miami, these tarot pop-ups will showcase creations revisiting the feminine illustrations from the divinatory cards which inspired Maria Grazia Chiuri.
Round minaudières, models of the lady dior and dioraddict bags, silk scarves, sweaters, bomber jackets with patches, leather biker jackets, and a host of other creations boasting these feminine figures in embroidered, printed or hand-painted incarnations will exclusively be available in these locations.
“The tarots of Karen Vogel and Vicki Noble are powerful, they are the artistic expression of a feminism capable of healing and strengthening. I wanted to reuse them with a pop spirit. These tarots are linked to the star signs, also dear to monsieur Dior. Fortune telling and tarots are part of the codes of the house as i discovered when immersing myself in the history of christian dior, and i’m appropriating them by reinterpreting them in each collection with a different spirit,” explains Maria Grazia Chiuri.
