DELVAUX SS2016 Collection

DELVAUX SS2016 Collection offers up a gorgeous mix of surprising and eye-catching motifs evoking a paradoxical cross between the work of two famous artists - Monet, with a spectrum of multi-coloured tones in the most delicate of hues, and Poliakoff, with boldly abstract looks composed of vibrant, graphic lines.

Constantly driven by a spirit of innovation while building on its tradition of celebrated savoir-faire and renowned quality, Delvaux reinvents some of its signature classics this season. In supple Sellier leather for a contemporary, casual allure, the house re-introduces the Brillant East/West, a take on the classic Brillant with elongated proportions, joined this season by the East/West Mini.

While some of the looks in this new line are sportier, such as the Brillant and the Tempête with their cotton canvas straps, others are like genuine little jewels, as exemplified by the Givry which takes on a whole new kind of glamour with its updated, wider band of Alligator leather.

While the timeless hues Nude, Végétal and Noir liven up the collection, new colours are given a place of honour including Piment and Amande, along with fresh and chalky Lin for a subtly light touch. Like little everyday surprises, colour shows up in unexpected ways, and sometimes hidden, ready to pop up when you least expect it, like a mirage of colour, such as the inside flap of the Brillant or the interior of the Simplissime Tote.

Another particularly refined touch of colour shows up between the scales of Python and Alligator Eclipse. Top-stitching and contrasting finishes are clever highlights, like a fine drawing tracing every curve. French binding creates an illusion in Noir and Ivory with the Brillant, the Tempête and the Madame.

Alligator, Lizard, Python and Galuchat are always given the ultimate special treatment. Despite the intricate work required in handling these precious skins, Horn Back Alligator inspires exceptional pieces in Noir and Ivory, while the Madame Smoking features Galuchat in an ultra-precision-cut design.

Juxtapositions of patent and matte leathers add contrast to surfaces, such as the confrontation between Alligator Gel and Alligator Shadow, or between Vernis leather and Nubuck Cheyenne. A house signature, Toile de Cuir is reinterpreted this season in Ivory on the Brillant and the Pin.
