Spa can be addictive, especially when you’ve found the right
therapist. The Spa at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur is a breath of fresh air,
as so many spas try to aim for that ‘Zen” ambience, but this one somehow has
the wrong kind of right elements added to it. mylifestylenews explores……
The Spa at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur went through a complete revamp, With the interior reflects the local Perakanan architecture in such a unique way and we feel that it is absolutely quite charming. The wood paneling, cabinets and colours (a very deep blue accent) are refreshingly different without changing what is the essence of a truly great spa environment. Space in great proportion is not the go here and the consultation lounge creates a warm and intimate atmosphere that reeks of personal attention and detailed focus.
A good spa experience is all about the senses, thus an important step at the beginning is to choose the right essential oil that will compliment what it is you wish to get out of it, whether it is for relaxation, revitalization or awakening and so on for if you don’t choose a suitable aroma, the assault on the senses can be quite disconcerting.
We had chosen two contrasting treatments to revitalize and relax under the Gentleman Essentials selection. For the <Red Eye> - A combination of lavender, geranium and wild chamomile, and for the <Face and Body Treatment> - A lemongrass based oil. This process was accompanied by a healthy cup of Roselle tea to pique one’s taste buds and have a dose of health giving vitamins before surrendering to the magic touch of our therapists.
Each treatment draws on world-inspired therapies and philosophies, offering a mélange of Chinese, European, Thai and Malaysian cultures. The Red Eye is all about providing a panacea for weary travelers who need to recover from feeling tired and sluggish after long distance travel.
We all know that such travel can be physically and mentally exhausting and this treatment works on both levels to help the recovery process. As is the norm, you choose what level of pressure you want and the therapist had an unerring sense of knowing exactly where to find the problem spots of knotted muscles and tension. So after some requested ‘pain of pleasure’, there was a lot of gain, and by the end there was a feeling of restoration and a return to balance within.
The Face and Body Treatment is a complete contrast, as it is
all about achieving a heightened state of relaxation and well-being. The
experience begins with a back cleanse and exfoliation that refreshes the skin.
The journey continues with a stress relieving back massage and therapeutic
Ayurvedic scalp massage to pinpoint areas of tension, bringing relief to tired
and aching muscles. Finally, a deep cleansing facial using an exotic blend of
finest essential oils and effective natural botanicals unique to their refinery
range, rebalances the skin, leaving it bright, supple and refreshed. The face
looked positively glowing afterwards and the back massage/stretching was the
perfect tonic to assist with the rebalancing. Both treatments should be an
essential choice for every male traveler’s recovery process.
The Spa at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, offers all pervading tranquility and surrounds you in luxury, while time truly stands still and a sense of deep relaxation washes over you. Our experience engulfed us in a haven of serenity and bliss and made us quickly forget that we were in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. It is time to take it easy as this is a new pampering spa experience that is not to be missed.
