FENDI
FW2014/15 Men’s Collection stems from a lucid observation of
reality, through the FENDI lens. It is graphic, modular, efficient and
pragmatic, in an off-kilter kind of way. The stress
on texture, which has a luxuriously high quality, creates a slight friction
with the functional pureness of the design, igniting energy throughout.
The idea is to respond to any possible need with pieces that are
high-tech but keep a primitive vibe through the wild tactility of the
materials.
The FENDI treatments transform them into statement pieces: distorted
Prince of Wales check run over the short coat; a calfskin biker jacket is
embossed and embroidered to resemble crocodile; suits have compact and deep
textures. Felt recurs providing protection and warmth, also unexpectedly in
trousers. Fur, a quintessential element of the FENDI DNA and savoir faire, is
all around and sublimated in a mink overcoat, or in a blue and brown marmot
coat.
There is a constant shift of codes: a v-neck jumper is made of mink, a
crewneck one has a melting needlepunch texture morphing from knit to sheepskin
and back. Neoprene looks like crocodile, in an inverted and subverted idea of
luxury, or is mixed with fur, in a seamless merging of tradition and
innovation. FENDI’s iconic Bag Bugs turn into intarsia on the zip-up blouson.
Pixeled shirts make clear that technology is part of the game, too.
The color palette is sophisticated and efficient: black, chocolate,
grey, khaki, blue. In this urban metamorphosis, charms on a bag and tufts of fur on a pair
of gloves turn into fetish touches. The secret weapon for the FENDI
multi-faceted man is his sense of humor: a pervasive lightness of spirit.
FENDI's iconic Peekaboo bag makes a masculine comeback with a roomier, sturdier, affirmative design. An original and unexpected, quirky touch relies in the inside of the Peekaboo with the fun detail of the Bag Bug’s eyes that add irony to the winter wardrobe. A collection of sleek bags and backpacks has embossed croc patterns on the calf, a node to the house’s exceptional workmanship and attention to details.
