DAKS celebrated its 120 year anniversary in 2014 launched a series of events in Europe and Asia, and it has now come to Hong Kong. A 120th Anniversary Exhibition was held as well as showcasing the SS2015 collection fashion show recently.
Creative Director Filippo Scuffi has presented the latest SS2015 Collections in London and Milan Fashion Week. The all new collections are about breaking all the rules. He has decided that the brand is mature enough to embark on a new creative and stylistic journey. He claims, "There’s a vaguely anarchic and seemingly irrational flavour to everything, a mix of colour and fabric combinations. To become a contemporary fashion brand, it’s an aesthetic imbalance, an ‘in praise of error’, that finds its own new and precise order as a result of its planning and organisation."
The new menswear SS2015 collection is inspired by DECONSTRUCTIVISM. This is a collection under the banner of cotton and silk which, together with leather and hints of satinized plastic fibres, displays a modern miscellany of fabrics that until recently seemed most unlikely.
The womenswear SS2015 collection on the other hand takes its inspiration from dance and the Royal Opera House in London, perfectly brings gentleness, femininity and sensuality to women, Same as Menswear, silk, ethereal Tasmanian wool, crisp cotton and cashmere gauze are the fabrics that form the new collection. Grey feathers sprinkled here and there with silver create a highly elegant balance.
Look beyond; above all, beyond itself. The absence of the House Check lavishly honoured in previous collections is no accident but rather a definite choice, was replaced by the new iconic symbol of a double D, showing that DAKS knows how to look beyond; above all, beyond itself.
