Jean Paul Gaultier SS2014 collection created in the Paradis Latin dance club
his own version of Dancing with the Stars and for this had a special jury: Spanish
choreographer and ballet dancer Blanca Li, Rossy de Palma and Tanel Bedrossiantz completing the extraordinary casting for his SS2014 collection.
Setting the scene for a dance competition, Jean Paul Gaultier turned the show into a truly captivating spectacle with supermodels showing off their dance moves. Coco Rocha and her leather biker jacket impersonating John Travolta in “Grease”, Karlie Kloss voguing in a printed T-Shirt and miniskirt, Belgian actress and model Hannelore Knuts executing a perfect tango in a fringed knitwear two pieces ensemble and Brazilian model Lais Ribeiro on a nifty rumba twirling her multicolor Swarovski chainmail scarf top followed one another on the dance floor.
The soundtrack was as full of energy as this playful collection: variations on the leather biker jacket as a midriff-baring bustier top or XL handbag or transparencies like denim shorts veiled by a pencil skirt of black nylon, or the flounces of tulle embroided with dressmaker pins spiraling round a nude asymmetrical dress.
Also a touch of Charleston with the shimmy dresses with fringes of sequined strips of rayon knit. As for the print, the black and white design of kids’ school notebooks spread from the silk muslin tunic to every accessory, jewel, shoes and even a matching “artholder” handbag.
“It will be murder on the dance floor!” promised Jean Paul Gaultier joining Blanca Li for
the finale. And it was!
