Club Monaco SS2014 collection inspired by the graphic simplicity of contemporary art, the collection reworks Club Monaco’s classics with interesting fabrics and silhouettes for the winter. “This season, I drew inspiration from the lightness and fractured patterns in the work of Anish Kapoor and David Hockney. I wanted this collection to have a feeling of calm following the holiday season,” said Caroline Belhumeur, lead women’s designer for Club Monaco.
For Spring, Club Monaco redefined its classics in soft shades of grey and dark blue alongside simple graphics giving an unexpected twist to the Club Monaco classic palette of black and white. As February arises, the colors shift to a warmer ambit using beautiful tones of pink, peach with a hint of sea green inspired by the simple aesthetic of the 1990’s. Evergreen emerges as the key tone in March, materializing in the shape of new forms, silhouettes and new classics from the brand.
Leather is a focal point throughout the Spring collection from dresses and pants are constructed entirely from Italian leather; mixed media patterns appear on to the trim of skirts, sweaters and the new spring shoe line. Outerwear evolves into a shorter silhouette with a bomber shape; while skirt lengths are tea-length. With spring just around the corner, abstract animal patterns and sheer overlays enter the collection.
The Men’s Collection explores the idea of modernity and patterns in new updated classics. “We’re always inspired by doers, makers, artists, and musicians; this collection was no different. We imagined what some of our favorite doers wore back in their day then modernized it for our customer,” said Aaron Levine, lead men’s designer for Club Monaco. The color palette for the season is neutral based with grey, evergreen, and navy for January; mint and khaki accents for February; and finally, levels of pink and grey for March.
At Club Monaco the mantra is “get inspired by what inspires us.” In continuing to bridge the worlds of fashion and culture Club Monaco announced the debut of its Summer Collection which drew inspiration from the pillars of the brands blog -- the Culture Club, with music, food and travel playing a pivotal role behind this season’s collection. “This season, I drew inspiration from my kitchen garden in the summer and the juxtaposition of rugged linens on the table against the femininity of florals and eyelets,” said Caroline Belhumeur, lead women’s designer for Club Monaco.
For Summer; Club Monaco redefined its classics in shades of blue and pale indigo and white alongside conversational prints giving an effortless twist to the Club Monaco palette. As the season shifts to May, the colors transition to a neutral range including natural colors like white and linen, with a pop of black throughout the collection inspired by the rustic aesthetic of a cabin. A touch of neon helps brighten the colors in June alongside florals, pastels, and embroidery.
Stripes are a focal point throughout the Summer collection for both men and women using linen, silk, and cotton. Floral patterns are mixed in all aspects of the collection including dresses, pants, and skirts. Designed for casual elegance during the summer, the collection highlights Club Monaco classics using shapes and silhouettes that embrace the warmth of the season. The Men’s Collection explores the idea of modernity and patterns in new updated classics. “
We’re always inspired by the music we’re listening to when we work and the mood it creates. I was listening to a lot of Chet Baker at the time and drew on that when I was designing,” said Aaron Levine, lead men’s designer for Club Monaco. The color palette for the season is indigo based with white, grey, and yellow for April; white and khaki accents for May; and finally, hints of pink and green for June.
