Shanghai Tang SS2014 Women Collection is a modern exploration of the natural world and introduces a new sense of volume, fresh use of colour, and relaxed silhouettes. Red, fuchsia, green and turquoise set the mood in the new Mirror Agate print, inspired by nature’s multi-coloured stone. New volume comes in the form of boxy tops balanced by cigarette pants. Clutches are crafted from lively prints. Satchels with strong symmetry in bold colour blocks of reptilian prints completes the look.
Exotic prints are the sophisticated update on traditional florals. Midnight blue backgrounds are energised by flashes of silver and fuchsia botanical motifs on coats and the latest qipaos. The silk evening clutch is renewed by 3D effect beading. The signature Shanghai Tang square silk scarf depicts a modern floral pattern in complementary colours.
Digital media transforms nature-inspired landscape painting in the abstract Digital Shan Shui print. Jade green and cobalt blue emerge as essential brights for ready-to-wear and accessories. The bowling bag has a new take in bold green leather and suede mix, available in full or mini dimensions. Lace effects and appliqués create unexpected surface detail on monochrome fabrics. Directional qipaos feature flared hem skirts, confirming volume is key for SS2014.
Light metallics play on matte black in the new Bamboo Forest jacquard. Volume brings modernity to a Mandarin collared dress with wide Dolman sleeves and use of sheer chiffon. Bamboo inspirations continue on silk printed clutches, quilted leather bags and knitwear with tone-on-tone techniques and pointelle effects.
