The Macallan Collaborate With The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra For Another Bravo Series

The Macallan once again collaborate with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HKPO) for another year on the Bravo Series. The concert series embraces The Macallan’s philosophy of appreciation for the finer things in life and celebrates the arrival of the New Year with a magnificent performance by the HKPO. The Series has always been dedicated to bringing together some of the world’s finest music maestros to give spectacular performance with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. As The Macallan and HKPO embraces the New Year with the Bravo Series, celebrated artists will continue to grace the halls in 2014.
The Bravo Series in December 2013 will feature the highly acclaimed “A Viennese New Year” under the direction of renowned Austrian guest conductor Johannes Wildner. The Macallan’s love and support for the arts emerged from their belief in sharing the finer things in life with those who appreciate creative talent and craftsmanship. Some of the noteworthy initiatives included The Macallan’s Masters of Photography series where world renowned photographers were invited to present the definitive moments of The Macallan through their magical lens.  Much coveted among whisky collectors and enthusiasts is The Macallan Lalique Series, widely recognised as an amalgamation of solid and liquid beauty through the art of crystal and whisky making.
The New Year Eve concert echos the style and tradition of the Viennese Neujahrkonzert, originally introduced for Austrians reminiscent of better times and as an inspiration of hope for the future. It marks the ideal occasion to enthuse joy and optimism for the commencement of New Year. The Macallan takes this opportunity to share their value of cherishing the precious moments with those who recognise happiness, sophistication and discernment. Born in Austria, Johannes Wildner studied conducting, violin and musicology and has established himself as one of the foremost Austrian conductors.  His years of experience as a member of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna State Opera Orchestra has given his conducting a distinctive stamp.  After holding positions as Chief Conductor of Prague State Opera (1994-95) and First Permanent Conductor of Leipzig Opera (1996-98), Johannes Wildner went on to become the General Music Director of  the New Philharmonic Orchestra of Westphalia (Germany) for ten years from 1997.  In September 2012 he was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra in London.
