Salvatore Ferragamo debuts in Greater China of L’Icona Ferragamo, an
online project developed to celebrate and rediscover Ferragamo’s most
recognized shoe, Vara. Renowned photographer based in New York, Cedric Buchet,
will capture Ferragamo’s choice of this era’s style icons, as well as their
lifestyles - all of them wearing and embracing Vara and Varina in their own way
for L’Icona Ferragamo. Introduced in 1978,
Vara is the iconic mid-heel shoe with a grosgrain bow and gold plaque bearing
the Ferragamo logo. For 35 years, Vara has been worn by style setters around
the globe and has become an icon in the fashion realm: it is today one of the
most famously recognized shoes from the House of Ferragamo. In 2007, Varina, a
ballet flat based on the bestselling Vara, was launched and quickly garnered a
cult following amongst style legends and fashion tastemakers. The project features a digital collection of
Buchet’s portraits of some of the world’s most modern, iconic women - Michelle
Chen, Zhu Zhu, Tong Liya, Zhang Zilin, Li Hui, Jocelyn Luko, Tina Leung, Anina
Ho, Fei Pang Chang, Candice Chan, Annie Chen, Tiffany Hsu, Christine Lee,
Jennifer Yin and Sarah Wang - shot in their choice of Vara or Varina. Chosen
for their inherent and effortless style, the women will be able to customize
their choice of Vara or Varina, tailored to their specific personality and
reflective of their lifestyle: for the first time the shoes are able to be
custom ordered, a feature that will also launch to the public once L’Icona
Ferragamo is live, offering through a dedicated menu on http://www.ferragamo.com
wide array of colors ranging from the Oxford Blue to the hyper-modern Rose Gold
and Silver, to the brand new Fuchsia Pink, Dark beige, and Sapphire.
