CHOPARD L.U.C. XPS is technical, refined, understated … in the course of its
successive interpretations, the L.U.C XPS has become an authentic classic. This
year, Chopard is unveiling a series of three models framing three new unusually
coloured dials with matching straps presented as a special box set. Housing a self-winding movement
equipped with two barrels ensuring a 65-hour power reserve inside an ultra-thin
7.13 mm case is no easy task. The watchmakers of Chopard Manufacture, in
Fleurier, achieved just that by means of a clever construction based on a
micro-rotor. The in-house designers fashioned the large 39.50 mm-diameter case
so as to feature a flat bezel and extremely slender caseband. This two-fold
approach resulted in light, dynamic, timeless and supremely balanced lines for
a model that won first prize in the ultra-thin watch category of the 2006
Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix. To respond to the needs of men fascinated by fine
mechanical horology, Chopard has equipped its L.U.C XPS with a sapphire crystal
case-back making it possible to admire the L.U.C 96.12-L (L.U.C 12.96) movement
and its superb hand-crafted finishes. Epicureans will note the allusion to the
splendour of vintage wines in the satin-brushed champagne, cognac or burgundy
coloured dials and matching straps of the new L.U.C XPS. This subtle tip of the
hat is emphasised by the special presentation box showcasing the series and
which is clearly reminiscent of those to be found in the best cellars.
Combining aesthetic refinement and technical perfection, these three new L.U.C
models are certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute
(COSC).
