A la folie ~ the new cake shop opened in the new trend-setters’ hub Moko Mall in Mong Kok. This cozy café and patisserie gives you a
respite in the city jungle with more than 20 types of pastry delights baked
fresh daily. The shop with gold as the main tone, transports diners to the glam
of the Broadway in the 1950’s in the US and an array of rolling pins is
incorporated into the ceiling that makes a brilliant décor. The large scale
cake display presents a bountiful of cakes that will be paired with some high
quality freshly brewed Italian coffee, and guests are very welcome to take time
in the cozy café to enjoy the delights.
A la folie, a French expression that touches heart, is being translated into the pastry world. It is this philosophy ‘a la folie Pastry’ is established, where cakes and pastries are designed to delight your senses and make you indulge in sweetness.
The pastries are prepared by Pâtissier Kato Tomohiko a veteran from Roppongi Tokyo who has more than 20 years experience crafting French pastry delights. The master used to work as Executive Pastry Chef in celebrity hubs such as Park Hyatt, Roppongi Club and Roppongi Grand Hyatt Hotel in Japan before he came to Hong Kong. The master is keen on presenting natural flavors by using seasonal and top notched ingredients. The delights are simple yet elegant in design, finely made with focus on the ingredient’s main flavor and color. Mr. Tomohiko is renowned in hand crafting sugar art, his signature cake a la folie features his expertise with finely made sugar gold ribbon encircling that cake.
