Strellson Sportswear AW2013 “Unconditional“ collection demonstrates the combinability of tradition and modernity. Authentic elements have their place, but are given a contemporary twist. Urbanity and functionality are the basis of the collection. The lines are geometrical and clear-cut, but broken up with asymmetrical effects. Silhouettes are generally slim and figure-hugging, though offset with oversize elements.

Narrow chinos or 5-pocket styles are contrasted with loose-fitting hoodies or parkas, tapered and drainpipe jeans and chinos with short biker jackets or slim-fit, ultra-short sports jackets. Smart layering breaks up the otherwise homogeneous look. 2in1 and 3in1 solutions are a leitmotif of the collection, along with down-filled short jackets, biker jackets or parkas. Once again, details feature prominently: cut lines, quilted effects, 2in1/3in1 functions, hoods, leather appliqués, drawstrings, large, masculine zip fasteners – plus waterproof features, tapes, new seam patterns, printed linings and real and faux fur appliqués.

Coloured and sophisticated new plain designs play a key role in the Autumn/Winter 2013 season. Plain, semi-plain, melange, mouliné and double layer yarns as well as minimal, pixel and 3-D prints are the flavour of the month, along with cable and Norwegian graphics. Camouflage is a recurrent feature of the collection. Wash and dye effects on plain backgrounds are the new counter-pole to print. The overall look is clean, rich and above all high-quality. Vintage effects are used to create deliberate and specific contrasts. All products draw heavily on smart finishing techniques, e.g. garment washes, reactive, antique and pigment dyeing, dip-dyeing and detailed handwork. Indigo, a key colour of the collection, is enhanced by new finishes.

The outer materials and knitted fabrics are lightweight but made to look heavy. Down or thick quilting create volume, while new wax, oil, foam, PU, pigment or carbon coatings lend the necessary stability, feel and look. Technical and natural materials complement each other, likewise mat and gloss effects. Strellson Sportswear has plumped for intensive, wintry colour families which are consciously juxtaposed with powdery/hazy base colours and melanges. The interplay between bold and neutral colours is crucial.

The red family, i.e. red orange, salsa red and intense berry, is offset with brown, beige and white. The blue/green family, i.e. midnight navy, stone blue, indigo blue and forest night green, military olive and guacamole green, is offset with anthracite, mid-grey, dark navy and black. All grey melanges play an important role here. The grey family: intense blue and purple violet are combined with shades of grey such as light grey, mouse grey, anthracite, black and white. Here again, grey melanges are key.
