Pierre Balmain @ SS2013 Collection

Pierre Balmain SS2013 collection is inspired by glamour under the sun, notably the grand hotels of Nice and the French Riviera, the chic styling of iconic French actress Jeanne Moreau as seen in Jacques Demy’s classic 1963 film, “La Baie des Anges,” and the renowned Parisian club in the 80s Les Bains Douches. 

With a palette of graphic black & white mixed with sun-kissed brights, the women’s pieces strike a balance between strong tailoring and delicate romance; the perfect coral lace dress, feminine shorts, and peasant skirts, worn with classic biker or tuxedo jackets. While the men’s provides featherweight playboy essentials; the slim tailored jacket, fitted cardigan, and the perfect shirt signed with a fine black stripe.

This collection was shown for the first time in a live runway show at Beijing’s Yintai Center in May 2012. While many foreign brands attempt to recreate earlier American and European fashion week showings in China, Pierre Balmain’s presentation is notable for being one of the first instances where a European brand has chosen to premiere its collection in China.

 

. The show features a mix of French ‘80s music and some of China’s most famous models, including Sue He, Huang Xiaomeng, Li Danni, Fu Zhenggang and Li Zifeng. Now, with the presentation on Digital Fashion Shows, this collection is being shown to the international fashion audience during New York Fashion Week.
