Classical trained enigmatic Icelandic composer Olafur Arnalds crossed into indie by making atmospheric shadowy, wistful, slow-paced chamber music works. <For Now I am Winter> marks Arnalds' major label debut effortlessly incorporates elements of pop and blend neo-classicism and icy electronic. With soundtrack contributions to films <Looper> and < The Hunger Games>, the multi-instrumentalist and producer Arnalds helped along by the tasteful orchestrations of American composer Nico Muhly and a guest vocalist with an expressive voice fellow Icelander Arnor Dan. The album is lush and somehow lonesome with collections of his winter's tale captivating the Icelandic landscape of solitude and the sublime. With the love of classical and film music, Arnalds began as a hardcore drummer at his teen. In his recent years, Arnalds has shown sign of breaking free from indie-classical with his soaring string arrangements, masterfully minimal piano melodies and take his listener to a journey through a visionary inner landscape. Arnald's music need time to percolate for resonant, once you get on the mood and knowing his music genre, it flows elegantly. <For Now I am Winter> is competent, music arrangement and composition are dissimilarity and rousing make it one of the must-have indie album for the year.
