TOD’S Timeless Icon Celebrates The D. D. Bag

Tod’s announced its sponsorship of Timeless Icon, a new photographic book charting the extraordinary life of Diana, Princess of Wales and held a cocktail event at Pacific Place Mall to celebrate Tod’s SS2013 D.D. Bag.
Timeless Icon has been conceived by Florentine publishing house Electa, with the editorial direction of Carlo Mazzoni and will celebrate Lady Diana, her humanity and unique personal style. Tod’s values are all to do with elegance and timeless good taste, and because of this it seemed appropriate to endorse this visual commemoration of an icon who can so effortlessly epitomizing those qualities. Exhibition ends 19th May 2013.

The original D Bag was introduced in the ‘90s as part of the first ever Tod’s bag collection. The new range was a classic, chic reflection of the quality and design of Tod’s shoes. From the first, the D Bag proved popular, particularly with Tod’s celebrity clientele - Princess Diana, Catherine Middleton, Princess Caroline of Monaco, Charlotte Casiraghi, Cindy Crawford, Kristin Scott Thomas, Julianne Moore, Jessica Alba, Hilary Clinton, Nicole Kidman, Demi Moore, Cate Blanchett,  Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, Diane Kruger and Naomi Watts are among the many prominent women who have owned one. The D.D. Bag plays up the lines of construction of the bags. Key features are the signature central-stitched seam and rolled handles, with an "almond-shaped" handle-end, all with hand-painted raw-leather edging. On these, the top zip is adorned with a graceful long leather loop that adds a touch of convenience. The bag is offered in various and versatile sizes, and has an adjustable shoulder strap.

Among the fine materials used for the D.D. Bag models are the most precious and refined leathers, including an even more luxurious note with three variations on the exclusive python leathers. The wide colour palette ranges from spice and earth tones, to neutrals and new vivid festive summer colours. The production techniques used to create the D.D. Bag are similar to those used by ancient saddle makers. Extreme skill and attention to detail is required for the cutting of the leather and the sewing and finishing of each style, as it is meticulously pieced together.
