Times Square & Fun Entertainment Presents "Miss You Much Leslie" Exhibition to commemorate Leslie
Cheung’s sudden departure a decade ago, left numerous music and movie fans feeling lost. His songs and his charisma continue to live on in
the hearts of many.
Looking back at the
artistic achievements over his short life, it all started with his rendition of
“American Pie”, which not only changed the life of a young man, but also gave
Hong Kong a forever superstar. The “Miss You Much Leslie”
Exhibition centers
around Leslie Cheung’s music, stage performances and films; divided into three
zones, the exhibition uses Leslie’s favorite colour, red, as its theme colour.
A mini movie theater scheduled
to show Leslie’s legendary films and interview clips of renowned artistes and
directors. There are display of movie posters and books from the
earlier days of his acting career, sitting on top of the mini movie theater is a
giant dazzling red pearl, gleaming in the sparkles; it symbolizes the immortal
light that is Leslie Cheung, who will continue to shine in the hearts of his
fans, just as his charisma lives on.
At 2/F Atrium ~The Music and Concert Zones features a large transparent archway and houses 1,900,119 paper cranes especially sent in by Leslie’s fans from all over the world to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his departure, and broke the Guinness World Record as the largest scale paper cranes exhibition.
Situated in front of this transparent archway of paper cranes will be a 6-meter-high half-length statue of Leslie Cheung, with a giant red paper crane sitting on the palm of his hand to signify that the fans’ well wishes have been well received by Leslie.
Through the archway, there are displays of the awards and honors Leslie had received over his music and film career; some of his most widely acclaimed songs will be played in the background throughout the venue; as well as his vinyl albums from his earlier days and a large number of images.
The exhibition also feature a number of the costumes worn by Leslie Cheung in his concerts, as well as 1:1 statues of Leslie to be exhibited for the first time, all created in the likeness of the most classic styles seen in his concerts.
The video of “Leslie Cheung Passion Tour” Concert is played in the venue, as if to bring visitors on a trip through time and space to reminisce in the sound of Leslie’s songs. At the Leslie Café in 2/F Atrium, fans of Leslie would be able to redeem a cup of coffee by presenting the concert ticket of the last show of “Leslie in Concert - Final Encounter” (i.e. January 22, 1990). Next to the Leslie Café is the souvenir shop at where various limited edition souvenirs will be for sales. At the 10th anniversary of Leslie’s passing,
Times Square and Fun Entertainment’s “Miss You Much Leslie - Exhibition”, hopes
to share the works and the undying charisma of our eternal superstar Leslie Cheung
with Hong Kong people, as "the wind blows on". Exhibition ends 1st May 2013.
