Bartenders around the world are competing to be come a player in the global DIAGEO® RESERVE World Class Bartender of the Year Finals. In Hong Kong, the competition saw three new bartenders get one step closer to be coming the Hong Kong market’s representative. Through exceptional use of skill and flair in the ritual and serve heat of the competition; showca sing the true spirit behind Johnnie Walker Blue Label; Dave Lam of Quinary, Wallace Lau of Angel’s Share and Lokendra Gurung of Restoration were selected as the winners of Round 2, placed in respective order, inching their way closer in the quest for the title of ‘Hong Kong World Class Bartender of the Year 2013’.
With Johnnie Walker Blue Label as the liquid focus for Round 2, the three winning bartenders and Tim Philips, winner of DIAGEO® RESERVE World Class Global Bartender of the Year 2012, got together to shake and stir to impress the crowd whilst sampling his award winning cocktails. The three winners,Dave,Wallace and Lokendra, also delighted the guests with their mouth watering Johnnie Walker Blue Label rituals;“Growing up”,“Rouge”and“Evolving Journey”. Earning the tremendous accolade of Hong Kong World Class Bartender of the Year is along journey, with much preparation required and many stages to go through. The champions from each round will go head-to-head to win the Hong Kong title and the HK national champion will then go on to compete against 50 other countries in the 2013 Global Final.
In its second year in Hong Kong, the DIAGEO® RESERVE World Class competition has seen a huge jump in the level of skill and commitment this year, spurred by the opening of an abundance of avant-garde clubs and drinking spots continually raising the bar.This testifies to Hong Kong’s burgeoning cocktail scene, which has been experiencing a revolution over the past few years,as bartenders become more experimental and creative in their concoctions.
