The 27 year old London-born shoe designer Sophia Webster studied at the Royal College of Art before training at Cordwainers College. While there, Nicholas Kirkwood and his business partner, Christopher Suarez, awarded Webster two separate competitions, leading Webster to be given the prestigious opportunity to work alongside Kirkwood as a design assistant. Kirkwood has since acted as a mentor to the designer, helping to provide production facilities for her SS2012 collection.
Webster was also awarded the Conde Nast Footwear News Emerging Designer of the Year award for 2012 and has been given the prestigious New Gen Award, for the second consecutive season, by the British Fashion Council for her forthcoming AW2013 collection.
