Viktor&Rolf SS2013 collection take the codes of iconic Hollywood
glamour dressing as a source of inspiration for a modern-day wardrobe: slinky
draperies; voluminous tulle; shimmer and shine. The result is clean glamour.
The silhouette is a long and lean column, with synched waists and strong
shoulders. The palette is largely black, white and nude with touches of salmon,
coral, dusty pink, lilac and metallic hues.
A fresh take on the mirror is a reoccurring motif throughout the collection. Ranging from material execution, where mirrored plexi is used as a modern embroidery in faceted trims, bows and roses, to reflection in patchwork, and a whimsical hand-drawn print on silk featuring a variation on the classic hand mirror.
Fabrics are feminine yet sharp creating a graphic and
flowing silhouette: crepe stretch and compact knit define a precisely tailored
silhouette; drapes in georgette, silk satin and silk lurex counterbalance the
sharpness. Plisse is shown in two widths and with variations through
colour-blocking and when combined with lurex. Draped dresses are clean and
modern in a technical japanese satin.
Patchwork pieces are precisely constructed in a silk jacquard, lurex,
satin and lace. With an ironic nod, one
of the knit stories features pointelle stitch on viscose blend with 'Viktor'
and 'Rolf' embroidery.
The collection is complemented by a series of accessories: classic pumps
with 's-curved' heels accentuated with provocative metal detail. Mirrored bags and clutches are a standout,
refined evening accessory. This season sees the introduction of a small range
of Viktor&Rolf bijoux: necklaces, cuffs and brooches.
