THOMAS PINK FW2012 collection draws inspiration from quintessential British sporting themes : Classic, sartorial stripes are reinvigorated and old-school colours are dusted down and given a fresh boldness. Knitwear is realised in earthy, wintery shades. The warmth of caramel, the luminosity of pure white and the steely coldness of maritime blue perfectly portray an English winter.
The essence of British sporting spirit – rugby, is the inspiration for our take on sporting clubs and colours throughout the collection. Iconic blazers woven in English cloth dominate, underscoring the core look of British-ness. Returning to the history and legend of Thomas Pink and the theatre of the great British hunt, we see elements of the rural pursuit feature in ties and cufflinks. Winter highlights include the rich textures of chord and flannelling in the shirt collection.
A traditional English dinner jacket is introduced for the very first time, peaked lapels and buttons are luxuriously finished in Ottoman silk, the trousers are in the same woollen fabric as the jacket and feature silk Ottoman braiding on the side seams.
The women collection featues the streamlined silks in mossy greens and bold berry colours reflect the changing autumn face of the countryside. Country colours they may be, but there is a clear cosmopolitan feel with leopard prints and tailoring (including a sassy trench coat in black crepe) are definitely not for the country cousin. As always, the white shirt has a starring role whether in crisp poplins or luxe silk, intricate detailing ensures that it steals the limelight every time.
