CERRUTI 1881 @ Harbour City New Concept Store

CERRUTI 1881 open its new concept store in Harbour City, Hong Kong recently together withe the House’s President Ms. Catherine Vautrin to officiate the occasion. The new store designed by CristoforiSanti Architetti, an architecture and design firm based in Milan, is a dedication to Nino Cerruti’s passion and vision, evoking CERRUTI 1881’s sophistication and creativity.
The architects’ inspiration for the new store concept comes from the house’s“Savoir Faire” and heritage, mixing Italian’s taste for elegance and Parisian“Place de la Madeleine” lifestyle in a modern and contemporary way. To link with the Italian origin of the house, the new shop honours top Italian designer Vico Magistretti who first furnished and designed CERRUTI 1881 iconic flagship store at Place de la Madeleine in Paris. Thus the Harbour City store features a lot of Magistretti’s original design, such as the beautiful 5 globes central chandelier, the ambience-setting leather furnishings and even the iconic table lamp.
The Parisian atmosphere, on the other hand, is subtly injected through the use of lime stone, the contrast of white walls and dark lines, as well as the grey texturized stone pavement that creates a comfortable environment. Harbour City new concept store reflects the evolution of the house who recently announced Mr. Aldo Maria Camillo as their new Artisitc Director in charge of all CERRUTI 1881 Collections.

On the occasion of this store opening, CERRUTI 1881 wishes to celebrate Nino Cerruti’s passion for the art of cinema. Indeed, the designer has a long history of designing costumes and wardrobes for over 150 films in Hollywoodand Europe, and through this involvement in the silver screen exploits some of the most recognizable style icons in the world. CERRUTI 1881 is a timeless flag-bearer for fashion, driving the look of sophisticated simplicity representing different generations and ages.

To honour this legacy, CERRUTI 1881 has developed a short-film competition in collaboration with the School of Film and Television of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA). Taking place in the Fall of 2013, the program will see CERRUTI 1881 sponsor 5 teams composed of HKAPA students and its recent alumni, with each team creating a short film of 10–15 minutes by working with the theme “Memories”. Participants will be judged by a jury of top directors from around the world to win the coveted prizes for “Best Film” and “Best Director”.
