Pierre
Balmain is a contemporary tale of the Parisian woman. The lastes fragrance <IVOIRE> is a bit of the French cultural
heritage, a page of postwar couture, a spectacular look… Founded in 1945, the
Pierre Balmain label consecrated the “Pretty Lady” spirit. Combining attention
to detail and voluptuousness, this silhouette of a free and elegant woman, who
has a taste for adventure and a hint of casualness, left an indelible mark on
its time.
It would take almost a half-century for the name of Balmain to once again stir passion, heighten desire and deliver a powerful fashion message. Under the impetus of a new artistic direction incarnated by Christophe Decarnin in 2006, and later, in the spring of 2011, by Olivier Rousteing, this infinitely luxurious style resonates around the world with young women on the cutting edge of trends, women who have a well-defined and sexy look.
This is Ivoire by Balmain, a rewriting of the last signature perfume created by Balmain in 1979. It was necessary to call on olfactory memory, consider this perfume as a sublime fragment of the Paris heritage and carefully guard this family secret transmitted from mother to daughter to create a new interpretation. The work of rewriting this signature was thus entrusted to Michel Almairac and Jacques Flori, perfume designers at Robertet.
“Our history is based on true luxury and French elegance, with a touch of edginess, rich ornamentation and cutting expertise. She’s definitely a Parisian, but one who moves around, who loves to travel and borrow fashion ideas from capitals around the world. A true woman, with a hint of masculinity, who tends to harbor a certain idea of nostalgia while remaining firmly focused on the present day. This 2012 version of Ivoire incarnates the perfect translation of today’s Balmain woman with a combination of heritage, richness, a touch of nostalgia and remarkable modernity.”” Said Olivier Rousteing.
To define this new Ivoire signature, the iris-green floral chypre is a promising initial surge reveals vibrating inflections of orange and mandarin essence powdered with violet leaves. Thus aroused, the nose lingers on a carnal bouquet of jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang and galbanum with an accent on its green highlights. Full of imagination, the perfume wake unfolds the elegant seduction of vetiver and cedarwood, highlights a patchouli heart freed of its earthy accents and rounds into a precious, delicate vanilla. The bottle pays tribute to the couture heritage of the house and the initial creation signed by Pierre Dinan. Pure lines recalling the architectural training of Pierre Balmain, the solid weight of glass in the hand and the warmed transparency of gold make up an authentic perfume object.
