Porsche Design ~ a luxury brand with a particular focus on technically inspired products established in 1972 by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, designer of the Porsche 911 and grandson of the Porsche founder. Since Dr. Juergen R. Gessler came on board in 2007, the sophisticated German brand with a strong masculine DNA was lead in his good hand. Gessler re-diversified the brand image and went across the Pacific, middle east and South East Asia, the latest expansion is the new iconic style concept store opened in Central Hong Kong. mylifestylenews was arranged to have a one-on-one conversation with Dr. Juergen R. Gesseler during his recent visit for the Hong Kong store opening and discover his rather long and impressive career development......

A year after I went back to Bietigheim-Bissingen as the head of Marketing for Porsche Deutschland GmbH. 5 years after I was the Chairman of the Management Board of Porsche Design group and in 2011, I over see the Shanghai China market and act as the Executive Vice President of China Luxury Industry Association and the present role is the CEO of the Porsche Design Group.

Why Hong Kong need another luxury retail store? In the last business year we increased our sales by 30 percent. And the first half of the current business year again shows a really positive trend, with an increase in double figures. We intend to support this growth by our ongoing sales and product offensive for Porsche Design. And the new location in Hong Kong is just the first step of many others that are going to follow soon.
The Hong Kong Store focuses on the substantially extended fashion collection for women and men and highlights the iconic essence of Porsche Design products with complete product portfolio of the Porsche Design luxury brand. Ranging from the fashion collection for men and women and the sport collection, through luggage, eyewear, watches and writing tools, to cell phones, jewellery and accessories.
The Porsche Design P’9981 smartphone from BlackBerry is instantly identifiable as a Porsche Design product. The exclusive material choices for this unique smartphone include a forged stainless steel frame, hand-wrapped leather back cover, sculpted QWERTY keyboard, and crystal clear touch display. It also comes with an exclusive Porsche Design UI and a bespoke Wikitude World Browser augmented reality app experience with a premium, exclusive PINs that help easily identify another P’9981 smartphone user.
The interchangeable lenses in new color variants for the legendary P’8478 sunglasses is also one of our summer highlights. A total of six classic shades of brown, light blue silver mirrored, grey gradient silver mirrored, green, dark orange silver mirrored and olive silver mirrored three more exclusive colorways – sulfur (yellow), steel blue (blue) and raspberry (red) for your summer switching liking.
The design of this classic item has remained unchanged since 1978, the only difference being the use of ultra-light titanium to bring the P’8478 up to the technical state-of-the-art of the 21st century.
In 1978 the sunglasses with the innovative interchangeable lens mechanism were not only the first glasses to be made by Porsche Design, but were also the luxury brand’s first contribution to the fashion world.
Porsche Design developed an entirely new category of luxury products: engineered luxury. The first product was the black Chronograph I, which immediately revolutionised the watch industry. The exclusive spectacles that followed became the world’s most successful sunglasses ever.
The two items are still available to this day in their original form. And the reason for this is mainly because of the special "iconic style" of Porsche Design and the luxury brand’s conviction that innovative functionality must be presented in its most beautiful form. This became one of our brand's DNA.
The philosophy for the luxury brand's creative work is clear: If you think about the function of an object, the form appears all by itself at times. Design must be functional, and that functionality must be integrated visually in the aesthet-ics, without any gimmicks that have to be explained.
The purism of Porsche Design therefore demands authenticity at all times and it will highlight whatever is unnecessary or superfluous. That is why we do not have any collaboration with any other brands.
A Porsche man shall have a masculine personality, intelligent and young in his mind. He is determined and independent, enjoy the slick designs and high quality products.
My favorite possession is my Porsche Design P’9981 Blackberry smartphone.
My ideal way of a living lifestyle is to celebrate special things in life.
mylifestylenews @ Porsche Design Group CEO Dr. Juergen Gessler.
