Silvia Venturini Fendi - Fendi's Creative Director of Accessories and Menswear - hosted a book signing event to celebrate the Baguette at Colette during Haute Couture fashion week in Paris recently. For its 15th anniversary, the Baguette bag goes back through time. As of July, it takes over the corners of a select number of shops across the world, with a series of Pop Up Stores: kick off has been July 1st at Colette in Paris, then in September at Maxfield in Los Angeles and Dover Street Market in London and Tokyo.
For Colette, the windows of the shop present ‘lino Lario’ iconic linen panels to showcase some of the most beautiful Baguettes created since 1997. On the first floor a selection of Baguette bags are available for 3 weeks, as well as the BAGUETTE book edited by Rizzoli. To celebrate this anniversary, Karl Lagerfeld has created unique drawings, which are reproduced on limited edition and exclusive t-shirts and silk foulards. In the other locations, the Baguettemania Pop Ups will feature a different display: tables like waterfalls of acrylic color and panels printed with the pages from the book. Niches echoing the printed panels, and on the table surfaces, one can find the one-of-a-kind Baguette and copies of the book.
In addition to this a playful backdrop, through which the Baguette’s experimental personality comes to life in a natural and non-celebratory way, featuring an underlying pop color theme which keeps the desire for the cult bag alive. Intended to be more along the lines of temporary installations rather than boutiques, like playful pop-up books they will delve the pages of the Baguette book and transform its contents into a tangible reality for a certain amount of time.
