BVLAGRI @ The New Monete Jewellery Collection

BVLGARI New Monete Jewellery Collection is a fascinating memories of divinities of earth and sea, eloquent documents of dynastic triumphs, proud testimonies of the prosperity of ancient cities: an entire world is contained within the round contours of an ancient coin, a tiny masterpiece of aesthetic sophistication, upon which Bulgari bestows an unexpected modernity. Ancient coins and jewels have long been elevated by Bulgari to the status of “objets d’art”, in keeping with the respect for tradition and for its own cultural heritage, perhaps best expressed by Nicola Bulgari in a 1982 interview: “To these ancient coins, relics of the past, we offer a second chance at life: rather than closing them in a drawer, we transform them into living things”.
As such, their stories live on in the timeless elegance of jewels that are the iconic and inimitable embodiment of Bulgari’s stylistic and artisanal sophistication. The first Monete jewellery collection debuted during the era of the ‘Dolce Vita’, when Bulgari asserted its signature style of rounded forms, decisive contours and harmonious volumes that draw their lifeblood from the Hellenistic and Roman origins of the maison. From precious, one-of-a-kind pieces crafted rigorously by hand with an extraordinary attention to detail – now part of the Bulgari Vintage collection – comes the inspiration for the new models of the new Monete collection.
This is how the intrinsic beauty of unique exemplars in silver, of great historical and artistic value, is preserved and accentuated by settings in pink gold and juxtapositions with mother-of-pearl. An especially striking example is the sumptuous sautoir that alternates circular motifs in mother-of-pearl and diamond pavé with ancient silver coins, giving rise to a composition of soft forms and warm, luminous tones.

The necklace with the single pendant, on the other hand, highlights the importance of the ancient silver coin, endowing with the centrality worthy of a precious gemstone. The bracelet also plays on the alternation of mother-of-pearl circles and ancient coins in equilibrium of rounded forms framed in pink gold that capture a contemporary spirit while at the same time respecting the past. Ancient coins are irreplaceable historical documents, representing a journey into the mythology, style and customs of epochs and civilizations gone by. The fascination of the new Monete collection lies in the conservation of that past, and in celebrating it through a fresh, contemporary interpretation of what was, and remains, sublime.
