Nike continues to take an encouraging step forward this year by teaming up with the Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) and provided the HKFA with new team kits for the Hong Kong National Football Team, Women’s Team and Junior Football Teams. Players of the Hong Kong team will be gearing up in Nike’s newly-designed home football shirts in a friendly match against Singapore at Hong Kong Stadium on June 1.
The new home shirt is red with a unique white sash across its front left and right sleeve, the team logo is highlighted on the left chest of the shirt. The inner back neck on the shirt is printed with the winning slogan “勁揪” in Chinese characters, which is a colloquial Cantonese term signifying a fighting spirit and unbeatable power. This slogan received the highest number of online votes at Nike’s “Our Inner Pride” Slogan Contest held last year. The new home shorts are a traditional red, matching the theme colour of the home shirt. The new away kit contains the same features as the home kit, but is entirely white with grey and black stripes as the sash element. The team logo has also been re-designed for the new team kits. The shield pattern of the original logo is now colored as half-red and half-white, symbolizing Hong Kong’s unique “One Country, Two Systems” governing principle. The words surrounding the dragon logo are also replaced with “HKFA” to represent the football association.
In line with Nike’s commitment to combine athletic performance with low environmental impact, the fabric for the new kit’s shorts is made with 100% recycled polyester, while the shirt fabric is made with a minimum 96% recycled polyester. Each jersey is made using an average of 7 recycled plastic bottles. The kits have been constructed using the Nike Dri-FIT technology to reduce moisture and are made out of 23% lighter fabric, with 20% stronger knit structure than Nike’s previous kits. The shirts also feature laser-cut ventilation holes to promote localized cooling, which help to regulate the player’s temperatures during a match.
To complement the new kit, Nike has also launched an integrated range of training and lifestyle clothing for the Hong Kong National Football Team. The range has been created for both the fan who wants to show their allegiance and for those who just want to show their support for the Hong Kong team. The new range is a great combination of national colours, national symbols, high performance elements, premium fabrics and elevated design.
The theme "Hong Kong Fight" in a series of events and product launches which marks the official kick-off of their cooperation with the HKFA.
