Tumi TEGRA-LITE™ combines the highest levels of durability and impact resistance in a protective, hard-side case with the ultimate in lightweight ease and maneuverability.

TEGRA-LITE™, made from Tegris™, is a revolutionary polypropylene thermoplastic composite material created by Milliken® for use in lifesaving armor, NASCAR race cars and protective gear for NFL players. It is an extruded filament that can be woven into fabric and then pressed into hard sheets. Multiple layers of Tegris™ sheets are pressed into durable, lightweight impact-resistant panels and fabricated into the TEGRA-LITE™ material. The inherent nature of the advanced material makes each case unique in tone, weave and pattern, and disguises normal wear and tear in a manner far superior to other hardside cases. Tegris™ is a recyclable material. The Tumi/Milliken partnership on Tegris™ has been in development for several years; the product is exclusive to Tumi for travel and accessory products around the world. 

  

 Tegris™ provides up to 15X the impact resistance of typical thermoplastics composites and maintains this level of performance at low temperatures (-40°C). Because it is 100% polypropylene, Tegris™ offers significant weight reduction compared to other higher density, glass-filled composites. A leader in the hard-side luggage category, Tumi launches TEGRA-LITE™ as a premium collection for those who demand the ultimate in modern design, unparalleled strength and lightweight convenience. The collection includes two-wheeled and four-wheeled carry-ons and several four-wheeled packing cases. The patented X BRACE 45™ handle system adds structural rigidity to the case and prevents damage to the handle. Other advances include an easy-to-maneuver wheel system as well as a protective coating that virtually eliminates scratches and minimizes signs of wear.
