G-Star RAW Global Largest Store @ Hong Kong Grand Opening Party

Luxury street wear G-Star opened its global largest store in Hong Kong and threw an exceptional party to celebrate this greatest milestone. The G-Star franchise stores are flagships that present the complete men’s, women’s and accessory collection in an environment that conveys the philosophy, design aesthetic and raw authenticity of the G-Star brand. Every element within the interior of the G-Star Store is designed and developed by the G-Star Interior design team using natural and raw materials. Through this distinctive design, denim is showcased in its purest form.
With 680 square meters divided over two levels, the new Hong Kong flagship store is G-Star’s largest flagship store to date. The opening of this new flagship store further supports G-Star’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region. The new Hong Kong store is located in Leighton Centre and showcases many special features including a floor to ceiling LCD panel installation which will be streaming video content, a custom dressing area and it’s unique façade.
  
  
  
  
The façade is constructed from a double layer of Corten steel sheeting – that gives the façade a ‘rusty’ look - a material never before used in Hong Kong - cut with a custom-designed G-Star pattern. Soaring more than six storeys high, by day the raw nature of the steel contrasts sharply with the surrounding concrete buildings and by night, built-in lighting washes the surface creating a big G-Star lantern visible from far away.
  
  
  
Made by denim specialists. A preference for raw materials, deep passion for denim and architectural perspective on tailoring are one of the main characteristics of the brand. Raw, pure and functional, both the collection and the G-Star Stores perfectly reflect these values which also seem to be rubbing off on a vastly increasing base of denim addicts worldwide. 
 
 
From its conception in 1989, G-Star has been known for its innovative and cutting edge style in the world of denim. Pushing the boundaries of the denim material, continuous experimentation and product development have led to a strong following worldwide.
  
  
SS2012 sees the introduction of ‘Moulded Denim’: an innovative new wash that uses steaming and baking techniques to permanently embed 3D human form into the fabric. Selected men’s items include the Morris Tapered five-pocket in Conn denim, with its ‘2 years worn’ wash inspired by French Sateen vintage work pants; the 3301 Straight in Firn denim, featuring local abrasion, scraping, belching and paints spots; and the RE State Chino tapered with its extreme vintage destroyed wash.
 
RAW Essentials also includes this season two new variations on the iconic Arc Pant, the second 3D denim ever designed by G-Star. The denim/linen fabric mix of the RE Arc Loose Tapered intensifies the take-up of indigo dye, which results in an extra deep 3D-effect colour finish. The RE Arc Loose Tapered in Conn denim offers an extra-low crotch, ‘crinkled’ lower leg and high-quality hand stitching.
