Versace SS2012 women collection, the siren arrive to the city in the middle of the hot, hot summer, bringing with her a new beat. Glamorous and strong she is dressed in neoprene, leather and jersey. Hazy pastel shades are covered in patterns stolen from the sea and rendered in gold and silver studs. Big, round shoulders with a sporty feeling sculpt the silhouette of the jackets which are worn with short shorts and high plexi wedge heels.
The underwatwer seahorses, shells and starfish are translated into prints in water blue, citrine, lilac and white. Panels of pleated jersey are held in place with gold studs over neoprene mini dresses, while over the knee pencil skirts are paired with a bra or the new T-shirt made from studded leather. For the hot city evening, the Versace Siren is wearing pleated jersey dresses held in place by stud and crystal treasures from the sea.
The SS2012 Versace man is heroic, confident, glamorous and masculine. For tailoring, there is a new cut with the emphasis placed on the hips and shoulders. Lapels and trousers are widened, all designed to promote a sartorial V-shape, the signature silhouette of the house. In a similar vein, shorts are offered tight at the waist and wider at the base. Blousons have wide, dropped shoulders and are cut to sit on a raised waistline, again accentuating the hips and shoulders.
The leitmotif of the collection is an iconic Versace print from the archive, which has been reworked for today. This Baroque-inspired graphic is interpreted throughout the collection in a variety of printed colors, and is found in studwork on leather and in embroidery on suede. This signature pattern lends the collection a strong sense of glamour. Primary colors such as red, blue and yellow are joined by pink, caramel, grey and black to create a rich and vivid palette.
The fabrics include wool/linen mixes, washed silk, laser-cut cotton, printed denim, suede, leather and terrycloth lined with silk. Medusa sandal in bright-colored leather and patent leather added to the mix are plain loafers and Medusa penny loafers in leather or suede.
