Blue is the focus of the Giorgio Armani Eyewear Collection for summer 2011. Blue is synonymous with depth, calm and tranquillity. The colour recalls far-off cultures and worlds, such as that of the Tuaregs, proud and elegant nomads of the Sahara . The pure shapes and attention to detail and design make this timeless eyewear perfect, like everything conceived at leisure and reduced to its essence and made with artisan skill. The rounded shape features a double nose-bridge, gooseneck nose pads, visible rivets and, as in days gone by, precious glass lenses. The colour range is moderately period and plays with mellow contrasts, such as spotted Havana with light blue lenses; light Havana with ochre lenses; dark Havana with brown/grey lenses; and black with grey lenses.
This explicitly classic, feminine shape is reinterpreted in a contemporary way through a subtle play of contrasting materials. The hand-brushed metal front, with its sinuous shape, contrasts with the marbled acetate temples creating an unusual balance, where the colour choices are seductive.
