Quirky little Monkis are leaving traces everywhere, turning everything upside down. Mysterious drawings appear, strange objects are washed up on the shore and jars of bubbly colours are suddenly poured over every available piece of clothing…The world has gone Monki! Suddenly everything is lovely and stylish but utterly surprising. Imagination runs wild with curiosity over the Monki Fields and in the Ruby Mountains. This autumn it’s triggered by the dark, mossy smell of woods and rotting leaves, the paper thin but sepia-golden memories of past glories, dusty old books, the raging hormones of the young and the menace of love lost. All these are happening on the latest Monki FW 2011 collection.
Bold cuts and impeccable taste has made Monki a goal for style-pilgrims for years. This season is no different: the collection is uncompromisingly up to date, centred in the street style meets Scandinavian fashion that is the heart of Monki design. The four autumn themes : Bright Young Things, Fade To Gray, Owl and Fox, Golddust Woman are beautifully different: spanning the girly, the ladylike, the tomboyish… and above all: the imaginative. In just five short years, Monki has exploded into an international retail chain with 49 stores in seven countries; Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands and Hong Kong. Monki is the feisty, quirky little sister of Weekday and Cheap Monday.
